\nCamilla Pagani, chair of the CICA Scientific Committee, is a researcher at the\u00a0<\/span>Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>of the\u00a0<\/span>Italian National Research Council (CNR)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\nShe has a degree in Modern Languages and Literature, a PhD in Anglo-American Literature, and a degree in Psychology.<\/span><\/p>\nAs the Head of the Project \u201cThe sense of diversity and its psychological implications\u201d, she has mostly been involved in the following research areas: youth\u2019s attitudes toward multiculturalism; the perception of threat in cross-cultural relations; the role of knowledge, fear, hate, anger, resentment, and envy in youths\u2019 racist attitudes; empathy in cross- cultural relations; child- animal relationships with special reference to empathy and violence; the relation between animal abuse and interhuman violence in both their socially acceptable and unacceptable forms.<\/span><\/p>\nShe is Head of the \u201cMigrations and Education\u201d Unit of the \u201cMigration Project\u201d of the \u201cDipartimento di Scienze Umane e Sociali, Patrimonio Culturale\u201d of the National Research Council. She is a Fellow of the University of Denver.<\/span><\/p>\nShe published papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and chapters in national and international books, and co- authored a book with Francesco Robustelli on teachers\u2019 attitudes toward immigrant pupils\u2019 attending Italian schools in mainstream classes. She is \u201cExpert Evaluator\u201d of European projects for the European Commission.<\/span><\/p>\nShe is a member of IAIE (International Association for Intercultural Education) and of ISAZ (International Society of Anthrozoology).<\/span><\/p>\nFor some years she participated in the ISTC research project on education against violence (\u201cProject for the Dissemination of the Seville Statement on Violence\u201d \u2013 Head: F.
